14 years after third impact, Ikari Shinji awakens to a world he does not remember. He hasn't aged. Much of Earth is laid in ruins, Nerv has been dismantled, and people who he once protected have turned against him. Befriending the enigmatic Nagisa Kaworu, Shinji continues the fight against the angels and realizes the fighting is far from over, even when it could be against his former allies. The characters' struggles continue amidst the battles against the angels and each other, spiraling down to what could inevitably be the end of the world. Review

i think my favorite thing about this one is how the preview just utterly lies about what Thrice Upon a Time will be, but considering that movie took 9 years to make I dunno if they knew what it would be back in 2012 as the world's biggest rebuild fan i think this is probably the third best, it goes furthest afield from the series but doesn't hit the crazy highs of 3.0+1.0. i think this biggest knock against this movie is it doesn't really add a lot to the characters in rebuild series, i do think the time skip is good but so much happens we don't have a lot of time to dwell on how the other characters changed, but shinji still being a teen in this context is fantastic, the highlight of the film. the curse of the eva is also just really good in context and i'd love to see other eva media explore it, everyone aging but the pilots just makes so much god damn sense for this weird property that makes no god damn sense.
